Jean-Michel Seri has issued a very clear ‘come and get me’ plea and
name dropped as Arsenal as one of the clubs he’d like to join (via Sport Witness).
Anyone
who watched Arsenal’s massive defeat to Liverpool on Sunday will know
that the Gunners are in desperate need of reinforcement.
The defence is leaky, the midfield is all over the place and there didn’t look to be much going on up front either.
One
man who has been linked to the Gunners this window is Nice’s
Jean-Michel Seri. The Ivorian was one of the best midfielders in France
last season and has been the subject of interest from some major
European clubs.
It was thought that FC Barcelona were close to his
signature but after that deal fell through last week, Seri himself has
now sounded out a number of other clubs in an attempt to seal a move
away from Nice.
“I want to be optimistic and think that there are still options,” Seri told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo. “Let the two clubs talk quietly again and come to an agreement.
“We
are not talking about any club, where you are going to sign for
money. I want to sign for a big European club, like Juventus, PSG,
Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool… For example, Roma has made
several offers.”
Seri was exceptional for Nice last season and
would certainly improve this Arsenal squad, slotting in that central
midfield position alongside either Aaron Ramsey or Granit Xhaka. Let’s
hope that a deal can be reached because Arsenal are reportedly keen on
his signature.
